The Perils of AI- Can Robotics be Programmed to Kill Humans?
About 78 years ago, back in the year, 1942 sci-fi legend Isaac Asimov laid out the popularly known Asimov's Laws, a set of principles which the robots should follow for the future applications, these include- Unfortunately, the first rule has been broken a lot of times, causing concerns about the dangers of Automation. The gravest threat arises from the co-working Robots also called as the Cobots, who work in tandem with the human hands. This is no exaggeration, the US Department of Labor which keeps a track of robotic injuries to the workforce, lists out serious injuries in 38 pages which are caused by robotic malfunction, and that not include the manual dangers of hacking. The insecure software systems are no help, regularly attacked by a growing number of hackers who take advantage of insecure software systems to manipulate robot programming to turn on the dark side of Robotics. In his book When Robots Kill, law professor Gabriel Hallevy discusses the criminal liability that arises from the perils of AI infiltrating the commercial, industrial, military, medical, and personal spheres.

Rise of the Terminator? 62% of Britons believe killer robots will become reality
Over 60% of Britons believe artificial intelligence (AI) and robots will soon have the potential to malfunction and even kill humans. This concern rises to 72% when those who understand and are interested in AI are asked about their fears over future robots. Participants were asked: "Films and TV series...portray intelligent robots who malfunction and kill humans. How far away do you feel we are from the technology depicted in the films?" Just 9% believed such a scenario is "very unlikely", while 45% said it was likely and 17% considered a future of robots killing humans as "very likely".

Controversial AI has been trained to kill humans in a Doom deathmatch
A competition pitting artificial intelligence (AI) against human players in the classic video game Doom has demonstrated just how advanced AI learning techniques have become – but it's also caused considerable controversy. While several teams submitted AI agents for the deathmatch, two students in the US have caught most of the flak, after they published a paper online detailing how their AI bot learned to kill human players in deathmatch scenarios. The computer science students, Devendra Chaplot and Guillaume Lample, from Carnegie Mellon University, used deep learning techniques to train their AI bot – nicknamed Arnold – to navigate the 3D environment of the first-person shooter Doom. By effectively playing the game over and over again, Arnold became an expert in fragging its Doom opponents – whether they were other artificial combatants, or avatars representing human players. While researchers have previously used deep learning to train AIs to master 2D video games and board games, the research shows that the techniques now also extend to 3D virtual environments.
